Tom Cheek is a candidate in the Cobb County District 3 Commission race. Tom not only spoke to the Madison Forum about the reasons he felt compelled to jump into the Cobb County District 3 race, but also spent much of the time answering questions from voters attending the breakfast.
NOTE: Due to the length of this forum, we split the video into two parts; 1) Tom Speaking and 2) Q&A session.
Q&A Session
As a private taxpayer advocate, I have accomplished much:
My efforts have led to more accessible and more affordable Open Records. I have challenged Cobb’s reluctance to turn over Records and won those challenges on four occasions.
I forced a restructuring of the Medical Examiner’s office – where taxpayer money was being wasted with no oversight from the County.
I have twice forced the Board of Commissioners to overturn their decisions to illegally spend SPLOST dollars.
I was born in Cobb, helped raise four children here, and understand the value of a dollar. I believe in limited government, oppose corporate welfare and oppose taking money from taxpayers to give be to charity.
I believe the role of County government is to provide quality services at s reasonable cost, period.
