Thank You, Mr. President

By J. Randolph Evans

On September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush said in a televised address from the White House to the nation:

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

Alzheimer’s Strikes Again

By  J. Randolph Evans

Every seventy one (71) seconds, it strikes another victim in America. Former Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt confirmed last week that she has been diagnosed with the early onset of Alzheimer’s. Coach Summitt has won more games (1,071) than any other college coach, with eight national championships and 39 seasons.  She is only 59.
After some anger and denial, Coach Summitt said this after learning … Read more...

Women In Politics – the Double Standard

By J. Randolph Evans

Even WSB talk show host Erick Erickson could not resist. What was the topic? GOP Presidential candidate Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann eating a corndog at the Iowa State Fair!

What did this have to do with joblessness, taxes, spending, the federal deficit, or the war in Afghanistan? Nothing. Yet, the photograph of Congresswoman Bachmann eating a corndog made the rounds over the internet, cable news and talk … Read more...

The 2012 Democratic Nominee – Maybe

By J. Randolph Evans

No one knows just how the current federal debt crisis is going to play
out. Anyone who says they do, probably knows the least.

The polling numbers for everyone involved are horrible. Sixty-seven
percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong
direction. Forty-eight percent of Americans disapprove of President
Barack Obama’s performance as President. Seventy-three percent
disapprove of the job Congress is doing. … Read more...

Defending Israel’s Right To Exist

By J. Randolph Evans

Over the next 60-90 days, one very important issue will be front and center on the international stage.  That issue is what should constitute the State of Israel’s borders.  As the only proven democracy in the Middle East, and one of America’s most reliable allies, Israel’s future could not be more important to long term world peace.

The changing international dynamics are due in large part … Read more...

Economy Needs More Than a Cup of Coffee

By J. Randolph Evans

On June 24, 2011, the United States and the International Energy Association announced plans to sell approximately 60 million barrels of oil from emergency reserves. About half (30 million barrels) will come from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve. When combined with additional production and supplies on the open market, the release should further drive down gas prices providing consumers some much needed relief.

Not surprisingly in … Read more...

Texas Rangers: One Class Act

By J. Randolph Evans

For 365 days a year, Georgia is Braves country when it comes to
baseball.  Yes, there is occasional passing interest in collegiate
baseball, especially when either the Georgia Bulldogs or the Georgia
Tech Yellow Jackets make it to the College World Series.
In some part, this devotion is the product of years, indeed decades, of
daily doses of Braves baseball.  Ted Turner started it all with … Read more...

Three Big Dates for GOP Presidential Candidates

By J. Randolph Evans

There are three dates that every Presidential candidate has circled on
the calendar. Individually, none are ‘make or break’ days alone.
Collectively, these three dates will separate the ‘wannabes’ from the
‘real’ candidates heading into the nomination marathon that begins in
Iowa, moves to New Hampshire, and dashes toward South Carolina.
June 13, 2011 is the date for the first GOP Presidential debate in which
virtually … Read more...

Court Gets It Wrong (Again)

By J. Randolph Evans

On May 16, 2011, the Georgia Supreme Court by a 4-3 margin struck down
as unconstitutional the law that allows a state commission to supplement
local schools with charter schools. For students in charter schools –
like the Ivy Prep School, an all girls school that ‘provides rigorous,
college preparatory program for young women’ (68% African-American and
40% from low income families), the court’s decision dampens … Read more...

American Voters Increasingly Trust No One

By J. Randolph Evans

On April 27, 2011, the White House staff handed out to reporters a
certified copy of the longer form of the Certificate of Live Birth for
President Barack Obama. Shortly thereafter President Obama appeared
before the White House Press corps and confirmed that it was his birth
certificate.

This is not the first time that the birth issue has been addressed by
the Obama team. Indeed, … Read more...
