Re: Government Cost Reduction
The Madison Forum convened its monthly breakfast meeting on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Marietta, Georgia. Forty people were in attendance.
The primary topic on our agenda was “Government Cost Reduction”. During our deliberations we explored the details of Sen. Rand Paul’s proposed bill to reduce government operating costs by $500 billion.
Following extensive discussion, the attendees were asked to vote, yea or nay, on the proposal. With only a few minor amendments, the bill was “passed” unanimously.
Our members strongly believe the bill proposed by Sen. Paul is, in spirit, a good “first step” towards correcting our country’s fiscal imbalance. His proposal deserves far more serious reception than has been offered by his colleagues to date. Accordingly, we hereby request both Houses bring the bill or a comparable substitute forward for high priority and earnest consideration and voting on their respective floors, at the earliest possible date.
On behalf of its membership,
The Madison Forum
